The Study and Practice of Experimental Scriptwriting & Performance
Since 2022, I have taught and advised 9 undergraduate or graduate students in the scriptwriting and staging of their own black box performance. Students enroll in 3 credit hours of directed study with me in the “Study and Practice of Experimental Scriptwriting & Performance” which culminates in a public performance.
In this role, I serve as faculty advisor and producer, and depending on the student creative’s needs either director, co-director, or assistant director.
The performance methods practiced in these are endlessly varied, and methodologically have taken the forms of: performance ethnography, verbatim theatre, epistolary performance, feminist satire, mystoriography, standup/improv, and poetic and literary adaptation.
